Awoke to
overcast and drizzle. Finally bought a
roll of heavy duty aluminum foil and taped it over our bedroom window. It nearly blocks out the light from the long
day and the neighbor’s spotlight. This
is old Alaska trick for dealing with long daylight. And it’s cheap and
portable. LOL Back to the gym this morning. Good workout.
Chuck’s knees and Pat’s back greatly benefit from the time. Arrive at Senor Dean’s house and find him
taking a little catnap. Grandma quickly
remedies that! And is rewarded with
smiles and gurgles and a full diaper. We
are all getting to know Dean better, is seven weeks old tomorrow. His personality and patterns are
emerging. But change is always
constant. He is absorbing and learning
at fast speed now. He recognizes his Mom’s
voice from across the room and he only has eyes for her when she is around. We read at least one book a day. Right now he likes the black and white images
and colorful car book. He still thinks
Grandmas is silly and Grandpa, well, Grandpa is super silly. Grandma trying to
remember what little Spanish she knows and saying words to him. Brenna and Chuck run errands (aka fishing at
Ship Creek for Chuck) and Dean takes a nap.
House stuff today, Chuck cleans up more old decking outside, Pat is
washing clothes and freezing garden broccoli.
It’s also interesting to see how Brenna is changing as she gets back her
energy. Sitting at the table dressed,
coifed and conducting work and house business with panache. Yes, there is life after birth! She and Zach are taking a weekend in Seward
for fishing this weekend. That gives Pat
and Chuck time to prepare for Minde’s arrival Saturday. We are very excited for her visit! Back to apartment and make dinner. Our native neighbor is now smoking fish and
making unpleasant fish smells from next door.
The big fishing hump is nearing its finish, His fish cooking and
preserving will be ending soon. Maybe we
can turn off some of the fans. LOL. And maybe a few slabs of his fresh smoked
salmon may go missing! Night!
